The Arsenal forward was a priority target for Pep Guardiola in the summer but Arsenal could not put a deal together having missed out on signing Thomas Lemar from Monaco. On the other hand, PSG managed to nab both Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe for record deals in the summer.

According to The Sun, PSG are now apparently set their eyes on Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez and could make a move for him in the January transfer window.

As Unai Emery look’s to put together a side capable of winning a first Champions League trophy for the French side, Sanchez could be the perfect addition to help PSG achieve it.

A source from The Sun, revealed: “City’s pursuit of Alexis could be in trouble. Pep is sure he wants to join the club but Paris are sniffing.

“They still have the funds to sign him and can beat City’s wage offer. They will also pay him a huge signing on fee.

“Sanchez can talk to European clubs in January and sign a pre-contract. He’s in a very strong situation.”

The Chilean reportedly met with PSG officials in the summer but his demand of £400,000-a-week was something the French side could not afford at that moment.

But with the recent scuffle between Neymar Jr and Edinson Cavani could force PSG to sell the Argentine striker and fund the move for Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile international’s contract with Arsenal ends at the end of the season and Arsenal cannot afford to lose the player on free transfer next summer. If Arsenal cannot convince the player to sign a new contract by January, Sanchez is likely to leave the Gunners before the January transfer window ends.
